When do I need new license plates?

When the vehicle gets Portuguese plates for the first time, for imported cars, and whenever the plates are damaged, illegible, lost or stolen.

What documents do I need to order plates?

You need the car's registration document (Portuguese registration certificate or foreign document, front and back) and the owner's Citizen Card or ID. If the license plate number is on the document, you do not need to type it: we take it from there.

Are the plates approved?

Yes. The plates are made in line with the current rules for Portuguese license plates.

How much do license plates cost?

Each plate costs €12.50. As a rule, a car needs two plates, one at the front and one at the back. If you are legalizing the vehicle with us, you can add them to the legalization request and choose how many.

Portuguese license plates

License plates are the last step of a legalization, and they are also replaced when damaged, illegible, lost or stolen. ComfyLand makes the plates from the license plate number on the vehicle's document, in line with the current rules.

How the order works

We confirm the license plate number from the document, so you don't need to type it.
